Beautiful Tahiti Resort & Holiday

French Polynesia is a vast collection of islands in the South West Pacific within five distinct arcipelago's. The Society Islands is the most populated of these archipelago's and consists of Tahiti Island (for which the group is often called), Moorea and Bora Bora. Tahiti Island is the main centre and population base with popular holiday destination Moorea lying just off its west coast. the famous and stunning lagoon island of Bora Bora lagoon is les tyhan an hour flight to the north west. More than 80 per cent of tourism is based between these three islands. The Tuamotu Group is a collection of massive coral atolls, Rangiroa being the second largest in the world. These low lying atolls with huge inner lagoons have fantastic scuba diving as well as being production centres for Tahitian Black Pearls. The Marquesas in the far north are dramatic volcanic islands with sheer cliffs and traditional villages but little tourism. Even further off the beaten track are the remote Gambier and Austral islands which are seldom visited by tourists.

Tahiti Island

Tahiti Island is the main island of French Polynesia with bustling Papeete Town and Faaa International Airport on the west coast. Tahiti features beautiful mountains and teropical rainforests, with several unusual black sand beaches and world class surfing breaks. The island makes a convenient stop before moving on to other islands.

Moorea

Moorea is a 10-minute hop from Tahiti and has a laid back holiday atmosphere. There are several nice beaches, great shark dives and the stunning Cooks Bay.

Bora Bora

Bora Bora lagoon is famous arouind the world as being one of the true gems of the South Seas. The island is truley stunning with towering mountains and a protected turquoise lagoon with many overwater bungalows and fantasticnorkelling and diving.

Outer Society Islands

The outer islands are infrequently visited although there are several lovely resorts and pensions scattered around theb group. The lifestyle here is more Polynesian in nature although getting around can sometimes prove costly.

Tuamotu Islands

The Tuamotu Islands are a group of over 100 atolls to the east of Tahiti. Some are small atolls with only a small fishing village whilst others like Rangiro and Fakarava are amongst the largest coral atolls in the world - so vast that you can't see the islands on the opposite side of the lagoon. The beaches on these atolls are generally of white sand and backed by towering coconut trees. The lagoons though are often very shallow, too shallow for swimming. Only near the passes are they generally deep enough for swimming and it is in these passages that the finest snorkelling and scuba diving amongst marine life is found.
