Tahiti surfing is highly acclaimed among international surfers with the largest and most dangerous breaks at Teahupoo on the south coast of Tahiti Iti. However, there are no resorts along this coastline but guests can stay at a couple of budget surf camps. Tahiti Island There are several other excellent breaks on Tahiti, off the north coast at Matavai Point and Point Venus and the south coast at Papara and Fishermans Point, but without accommodation nearby access is by rental car. There are several surf schools on island and it is possible to rent boards from Papeete.
Moorea Surfing is also good on the north coast of Moorea and off Haapiti on the west coast of Moorea. Huahine is the new up-and-coming surf spot with several consistent breaks off Fare Town on the west coast. All breaks are accessible from the coast but are reef or passage breaks which require experience and nerve.
